Virtual meetings, events, and memberships are the new norm in 2020, and possibly even 2021 as well. The best thing we can do is adapt and make the most of these uncertain times. We understand why some members may be hesitant to join or renew their membership, but our board has been working very hard to create a collaborative, welcoming, and beneficial environment for all of our members. We’ve compiled a list of benefits you can get from Ad 2 Madison, even while we remain virtual.
Virtual events unlock easy professional development opportunities
You can attend in your pajamas! Well, maybe not your pajamas… but definitely in a more relaxed wardrobe. Grab your pet, your favorite drink, and a comfy blanket to join our next happy hour/game night. Or, be sure to check our calendar of events for educational and other professional development events. Recent examples include a diversity panel and an event on how to manage your money during a pandemic — no commuting necessary.
You can expand your virtual networking circle
Whether you’re a student, a recent grad, or a young professional in the workforce, expanding your professional networking is a must. Ad 2 Madison offers resume reviews, job postings and other advice young professionals need when starting their careers. It gives you the opportunity to connect with young professionals going through the same struggles you are — WFH, virtual learning, COVID-19 lay-offs, and job hunting during a pandemic. Our community is here to support you!
Our virtual meetings offer flexibility
Virtual membership allows you to connect from anywhere! Our board is looking into recording our meetings in order to give our members the opportunity to attend even if the timing doesn’t work out for you or if you aren’t currently in Madison. Virtual meetings also cut down on travel time, as it only takes a few minutes to open your laptop and join the meeting! Members can also connect to Ad 2 groups in other cities if they have a topic that interests them. There’s never been a better time to get more involved in our meetings and explore a board position. If you are interested in attending a meeting virtually, viewing a recording, or applying for a board position email President Grace Davenport.
Resume review
As mentioned above, our board has started offering resume reviews in this virtual environment. Our board includes young professionals working in a variety of areas, from copy writing to design, at a large swath of companies and organizations, such as agencies, in-house marketing shops, and higher education. Several have started new jobs recently, some even during the pandemic! So to help out our members, we have started offering resume reviews. This can include a simple copy edit as a “second pair of eyes” or a larger review with more feedback for improvement — whatever is most helpful. If you’d like more information or to have your resume reviewed, email President Grace Davenport.
